Description
Aster Dumosus 'Alice Haslam' is a compact and colourful perennial that adds a vibrant look to your garden. This aster, also known as the autumn aster, flowers profusely in late summer and early autumn, from August to October. It is loved for its abundant, bright pink flowers with a radiant yellow centre, which not only offer a visual spectacle but are also richly visited by butterflies and bees.
With its low growth height of about 25 to 30 cm, 'Alice Haslam' is ideal for the foreground of border plantings, rock gardens or as a ground cover. The dark green leaves form a nice contrast to the bright flowers and remain attractive throughout the growing season.
Before planting Aster Dumosus 'Alice Haslam', it is advisable to soak the roots in water for 3-6 hours. This helps the plant to settle better. Then plant the roots lengthwise, shallow (1-2 cm deep), in a sunny location in well-drained soil. The plant is easy to care for and also tolerates light shade. Prune the plant back after flowering to promote compact growth and ensure healthy flowering the following season.
With its rich flowering, attraction to butterflies and bees, and low-maintenance nature, Aster Dumosus 'Alice Haslam' is an excellent choice to beautify your garden and add colour in late summer and autumn.
