Planting Corydalis flower bulbs

Corydalis are spring-flowering bulbs and can be planted from October to December. Choose a location in your garden that receives partial shade to full shade. Corydalis prefers sheltered spots and thrives in moist, well-draining soil. Corydalis is a relatively low-maintenance plant. Regularly check the soil moisture levels and water as needed. Remove spent blooms to encourage continuous flowering. In colder regions, corydalis may die back in winter but will reemerge in spring. It’s a great naturaliser.

Different types of Corydalis

Corydalis offers a diverse array of types, each with its own unique characteristics. From the delicate beauty of Corydalis solida to the vibrant hues of Corydalis lutea, there is a variety to suit every garden. To make your choice, use the filter; choose for example the bulb size, flowering period, colour, group or height. Corydalis bulbs can be planted in the ground by hand. But for mass planting you can also choose mechanical planting.

History of Corydalis

The history of Corydalis is rooted in ancient mythology and spans across various regions. In Greek mythology, it is said that Corydalis was named after a beautiful nymph named Scylla. However, her enchanting beauty caught the attention of the sea god Glaucus, leading to a jealous sorceress turning Scylla into a monster. Corydalis plants have been found in abundance in North Africa, Spain, the Caucasus, and even tropical regions of Africa, India, and South Africa. With its rich mythological associations and widespread distribution, Corydalis carries a sense of intrigue and fascination that adds depth to its botanical legacy.
