Wholesale ixia / corn lily tubers

We sell fresh ixia tubers in bulk quantities at very competitive prices; direct from our growers! View our current offer in the webshop and order full boxes or individual pieces as desired. Filter by category, colour, group, flowering time, bulb size for a specified overview.

Both companies and private individuals can easily order in our webshop. Because we are a wholesaler, we apply a minimum order value of € 250,00. Are you interested in smaller quantities or can you not reach the minimum order amount? Then we would like to refer you to www.bulbi.nl. BULBi is part of Green Garden and offers already packed flower bulbs in different packages.

Plant ixia tubers

Ixia bulbs should be planted in spring in a sunny spot with well-drained soil. Wait until the last frost has passed and make sure the soil is not too wet. Otherwise the tubers may rot. The tubers multiply in the same way as the gladiolus. 1 tuber develops into 1 or more new tubers and beads.

Different types of ixia

We offer a wide range of ixia in various colours (while stocks last). To make your choice you can use the filter; choose for example the bulb size, flowering period, colour, group or height. Ixia tubers can be planted in the ground manually.

History of the ixia

The ixia originally comes from South Africa. The name Ixia stems from the Greek ixiós and stands for mistletoe or bird's glue. It is probably named after the sticky sap the tubers contain. Linnaeus described the Ixia as early as 1737, when he was working with Clifford at the Hartenkamp, Heemstede, to study his plant collection. The species he described now belong to Aristea and Belamcanda. The Ixia as we know it was only introduced to us in 1780. The present-day cultivars have arisen from crosses. The main parents are Ixia maculata and Ixia columnaris.
