Allium bulbs are available all year round (while stocks last). Of course, you can get involved in landscaping and beautifying your surroundings in advance of the season. It is therefore possible to order flower bulbs online before the season begins, to ensure you of your preferred choice of allium bulbs. Planting allium flower bulbs

Alliums are spring and summer bloomers. The bulbs bloom in early summer when the allium bulbs are planted from October to December, before the first frost in the ground. If you plant the allium bulbs in the autumn, you will enjoy the beautifully coloured flowers in spring and early summer. 

Different types of allium

We offer a wide range of alliums.  There are purple, white and even yellow alliums. Alliums grow best in sandy soil that is not too wet and generally attract insects such as bees. To make your choice, use the filter; for example, choose the bulb size, flowering period, colour, group or height. Allium bulbs can be planted manually in the ground. But for mass planting, you can also opt for mechanical planting.

History of the allium

Allium means 'garlic' in Latin. There are also sources which say that Allium comes from the Greek word 'aleo', which means to avoid (by the smell of garlic). Linneaus first described the Allium in 1753. The genus Allium comprises almost 1000 species. These include species that are edible, such as onion, shallot, chives and leeks. Depending on the species, the bulbs measure between 3 and 30 cm in length. The Allium oreophilum only grows to 5 cm, while the Allium giganteum can reach a height of over a metre. Most species flower in early summer, immediately after many spring flowers. Originally the allium comes from the Northern hemisphere, Asia and the Middle East.
